Harold Bok (Ph.D., DVM) is a professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. He chairs the research group 'Educational Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine'. In his research the focus is on academic research and innovation in the field of veterinary education. His area of expertise lies in assessment, competency-based education, and workplace-based learning. His mission is to bridge the gap between educational theory and daily educational practice within and beyond the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University.

Since June 2022 Harold is Vice Dean for Education at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

After his graduation in 2005, he worked as a veterinarian in small animal clinical practice. In 2014 he defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled ‘Competency-based Veterinary Education: An integrative approach to learning and assessment in the clinical workplace’. From September 2015 to September 2017 he was appointed as Utrecht University Teaching Fellow. In 2017 & 2019 the students nominated Harold for the prize of “Senior Teacher of the Year”.

Harold was chair 2019-2020 of AAVMC’s Council on International Veterinary Medical Education (CIVME).

In 2021 and 2022 Harold was a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Academic Teaching (CAT), Utrecht University. In 2023 he became a Principal Fellow.
